NAME: Zelda
CANON: Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
CANON POINT: End of aLttP/World of Light true ending
AGE: 20
BACKGROUND:
A Link to the Past
World of Light
Zelda has experienced the entirety of A Link to the Past, and a [vague hand motions] amount of time has passed before she got sucked into World of Light.
During World of Light, Zelda got pulled into a multiverse-spanning fight against two incredibly powerful beings. She's experienced the true ending, where the playable fighters defeat Galeem and Dharkon, freeing everyone and returning to their respective worlds. WoL isn't very narrative heavy, so it's not like she has some deep personal connection with Pac Man now or anything. Everyone was too busy fighting to really stop and get to know each other, so as a result, Zelda just has some general knowledge that the multiverse exists and some awareness of other versions of herself, Link, Ganon, etc. The biggest impact this will have on her is that she won't have the standard jamjar panic when she first arrives on Prismatica.
PERSONALITY:
She's called the wise princess of Hyrule, and is highly regarded by her subjects as a benevolent and intelligent ruler. Everyone in Hyrule adores her, as shown by how quickly townspeople turn on Link when they think he's the one who kidnapped her. She carries herself in a way befitting a beloved princess- her appearance and mannerisms are very elegant, but she's not aloof. She's often seen with a serene and friendly smile, and is occasionally even playful. Her demeanor is of a woman who can command the attention of an entire room, but also wouldn't hesitate to stop and have a spirited chat about this cool thing she just read about.
In every incarnation, Zelda is associated with the Triforce of Wisdom, and this particular Zelda is also gifted with intelligence beyond her years. She's very good at thinking on the fly, as she didn't have much time to put together a plan when Agahnim killed her father and took control of the guards. She also has a surprising knowledge of things like secret passageways in and around the castle. Now, why would a sweet little princess need to know stuff like that? It's almost like she tries to stay two steps ahead of her enemies at all times.
She's steadfast, as not even being trapped in a crystal can stop her from doing her best to assist Link in his quest, communicating and dropping hints even as she's held prisoner. Even when things seemed the most grim, she never once stopped believing that good would triumph over evil, and told Link that she never doubted his status as a hero when he finally rescues her. She has exactly one line of dialogue in World of Light (which is still more than 90% of the cast), and it's affirming to the others that yes, they can and will defeat this enemy! And to her credit, they do! It only takes like... 20+ hours of gameplay. Shh.
As smart as she is, sometimes she can be too clever for her own good, which can lead to her not considering all angles of a plan before it's too late. Sure, getting Link to sneak in and bust her out of the castle was a masterstroke, but she didn't stop to consider that when Agahnim obviously came to look for her he would check important places like the only church in Hyrule. Oops. And despite her initial affirmation that she and the other fighters can stop the threat, they are all instantly stomped by Galeem at the introduction of World of Light and have to recuperate and regroup to face it again.
There's also the slight hiccup in that she's from a high fantasy world where there's no such thing as electricity. Prismatica will pose a significant challenge to her in that it's completely unlike anything she's used to. Toilets? What kind of black magic is that? Still, she wouldn't be the wise princess if she weren't eager to learn new skills. It just might be a rocky start.
Part and parcel of being a benevolent ruler, Zelda will always put the needs of others before herself. It's good for her kingdom of course, but in the long run maybe not so great for her own well-being. She says herself that she's not sure what happened to the other maidens, but she still gives herself up as a sacrifice by the evil sorcerer lest even more people are killed trying to get to her.
With all of her magical prowess, it's not surprising that she's a squishy wizard. She is, after all, a princess, and has plenty of royal guards to fight her battles for her, and she still gets kidnapped pretty easily. She relies on her magic more often than not, often as a supplement to boost her physical attack power. In Super Smash Bros., this is evident just by looking at her moves. Even her basic punches and kicks are enhanced with magic, and it's easy to see that she wouldn't be much of a contender without it.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Telepathy: Zelda can speak telepathically to people. A few caveats so this isn't majorly overpowered:
-She has to know the person and have a general idea of where they are. In aLttP, she knows about Link because she dreamed of him, but I'll say she has to have actually met someone face-to-face for it to work.
-They cannot speak back to her unless they are also telepathic.
-The distance between her and the person she's trying to talk to has to be less than, say, half a mile. Unless they have access to a telepathy tile, which only exist in Hyrule, so.
Prophetic dreams: She has these, but let's just say she won't have any while in Prismatica. Unless there's a chance to integrate it in an event maybe? But I'll leave that up to the mods.
Magic: She's got a LOT of it thanks to being a descendant of one of the seven sages.
-In general: While she's quite versatile in offensive and defensive magic, she can't use her powers for healing. She can conjure up small bursts of magic around her hands or her feet.
-Nayru's Love: Zelda summons a large shield shaped like a crystal around her that can reflect other attacks, or just smack someone away if they're too close
-Din's Fire: Your standard fireball spell
-Farore's Wind: She can teleport a short distance. Like, into the next room or up one floor. But hey, it also hurts if you're standing too close when she poofs.
-Phantom: She can summon an animated suit of armor made of magic. She can maintain it enough to have it do one action (such as attacking), and if her concentration is broken at any time, the suit collapses and disappears.
INVENTORY:
Absolutely nothing, bro. She's got a lot of jewelry but that could probably go under 'clothes'.
